DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Serial #16, Grade 936, 17J, 18S, gold-filled OF original case with boxed band, threaded bezel and rear, white enamel DS dial with "H" marking below factory signature, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#16. This serial number is listed in the Hamilton factory ledger as having been sold on January 13th, 1894 to Frank Hammond of Buffalo, New York. Frank Hammond was a railroad watch inspector for the New York Central Railroad as well as a few other railroads that passed through Buffalo, and the capital "H" marking on the dial below the Hamilton factory signature is characteristic to Hamilton watches that were purchased by Hammond. Overall a terrific very low serial numbered example. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
